What You Should Know About Wood Floors
When you choose wood flooring for your new home, Pride
Mark will provide manufacturer's care and warranty information.
However, before making your final selection, it's important
that you understand the following:
Engineered wood floors are comprised of several layers
of bonded construction hardwood, with the top layer
stained and finished. There may be variations in the
height and width of individual boards.
Wood is a natural product, so color, texture, grain,
and appearance can vary. Design Center samples are for
color guidance only, and wood installed in your home
will come from a different lot.
Heeled shoes, unpadded furniture rests, and dropping
sharp, heavy objects will dent or scratch wood floors.
Protect your floors with furniture padding.
Wood floors are engineered with a "tongue in groove"
design. This leaves slight space between boards, which
will vary from one design to another, and may expand
or contract based on weather and humidity.
Wood floors are not recommended for wet areas, such
as kitchens or bathrooms, and will not be warranted
against problems related to excessive moisture. Do not
use water to clean your wood flooring.
Prolonged sunlight may fade or shade flooring. Protect
it by using proper window coverings.
Follow manufacturer recommendations for wood floor
care.
